Design for the future

Introduction

In Europe, a wave of change will involve academies through art and design thanks to DESIG*ness, a project co-financed by Erasmus+ aimed at instilling the principles of accessibility, inclusivity, and diversity in the design field. With a three-year commitment, this project boasts collaboration from prominent institutions across three different countries.

Led by the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan and supported by influential partners such as BAM! Strategie Culturali, the Art Academy of Latvia, the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Cerpa Italia Onlus, and the Design For All Italia association, DESIG*ness aims to profoundly reform teaching methodologies. The project plan is built on the pillars of universal accessibility, promoting education that reflects and respects student diversity. The main activities include the development of a transnational training program that breaks down cultural and physical barriers, and the creation of guidelines to integrate inclusivity into project processes and activities. DESIG*ness also aims to introduce innovative teaching techniques and assess competencies in a fair and inclusive manner.Crucial is the involvement of various stakeholders, whose contribution is essential to refine strategies and ensure the project embraces an inclusive and multidimensional perspective, sensitive to current social and regulatory contexts.

Conclusion

DESIG*ness aims to go beyond the simple integration of new content into existing programs, aspiring to transform the educational environment into a space where accessibility, inclusivity, and diversity are not only valued but fundamental pillars.
