Design*NESS Summer School Program 2024 has begun

Introduction

DesignNESS proudly announces the launch of its Summer School Program 2024, focusing on inclusivity in design. Following a rigorous selection process, the top projects from the DesignNESS Teacher Training program have been chosen, and preparations are underway for summer schools in Milan, Riga, and Vilnius.

The Design*NESS Summer School Program 2024 aims to offer students from art academies a unique learning experience centered on design inclusiveness. The summer schools will be held from June to September 2024 and will involve students from three prestigious institutions: NABA in Italy, the Latvian Academy of Arts in Riga, and Vilnius Academy of Arts in Lithuania.During this period, the selected project works, which were developed as part of the Design*NESS Teacher Training program, will form the foundation of the summer school curriculum. Each of the three best project works, representing one from each academy, will be transformed into comprehensive teaching programs. These programs will provide a blend of face-to-face and remote learning experiences, focusing on various design fields such as public space, architecture, interior design, digital design, product design, and services. The emphasis will be on applied design inclusiveness, addressing issues of disability and accessibility in practical ways. The selected students, 10 from each academy, will participate in these summer schools at no cost. They will benefit from mobility and exchange opportunities, allowing them to experience different teaching environments and methodologies. Additionally, teachers who participated in the Design*NESS Teacher Training program will have the opportunity to travel to partner academies, further refining their skills in teaching inclusiveness.

Conclusion

The Design*NESS Summer School Program 2024 represents a significant step forward in promoting inclusiveness in design education. By providing students and teachers with this unique opportunity to collaborate and learn, DesignNESS is fostering a more inclusive future in the design industry. The summer schools will not only enhance the participants' skills but also contribute to a broader understanding and implementation of inclusive design principles.
