Art Academy of Latvia's first Outerach event

On 15 May 2024, the Art Academy of Latvia hosted representatives of the Ministry of Welfare, who together with project partners from the Lithuanian Ministry of Social Security and Labour, the Danish Social Science Research Centre and the Estonian Chamber of Persons with Disabilities are implementing the project "Accessibility = Possibility", which aims to raise awareness of universal design and accessibility issues: mutual exchange of experience and development of a joint training programme on environmental accessibility, universal design, accessibility of information, goods and services

Representatives of the Art Academy of Latvia - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Antra Priede and Project Manager Vineta Kreigere shared their experience in addressing accessibility issues at the Academy, including participation in international projects, improvement of the study environment, results of study courses and diploma theses. Adele Bērziņa, PhD student at the LMA, talked about the themes addressed in the AAL Curatorial Course Master's thesis "Visual Art Experience for People with Functional Visual Impairment: curatorial practice in Latvian Art and Culture Space".

Luca Poncellini, Head of the Design and Applied Arts Department at NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, informed the guests about the aims and activities of the project "DESIG*ness".
